Biden Receiving Lifetime Achievement Award from Kennedy Institute
The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate announced details for its 10th anniversary celebration.
Former president Joe Biden is set to receive Lifetime Achievement Award honors from the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate, the organization announced today.
Prior to dropping out of the 2024 presidential election, Biden was championed as a candidate by several members of the Kennedy family, to contrast Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s support for Donald Trump. Key members of the Kennedy family were featured in campaign events and at the White House, and did several media interviews on behalf of Biden.
Marty Walsh, the former Mayor of Boston and the U.S. Labor Secretary in the Biden Administration, and Lisa Franchetti, a retired U.S. Navy admiral who was the first female to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will also receive awards for inspired leadership.
The award presentations will occur at the institute’s 10th anniversary celebration on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The Kennedy Institute educates the public about the role of the U.S. Senate and champions the legacy of its namesake. It is located on the University of Massachusetts Boston campus and features a 68,000 square-foot replica of the U.S. Senate chamber.
Members of the institute’s board of directors include Saxby Chambliss, former Republican U.S. Senator from Georgia; Frank Fahrenkopf Jr., former chairman of the Republican National Committee; Cory Gardner, former Republican U.S. Senator from Colorado; Mel Martinez, former Republican U.S. Senator from Florida and U.S. HUD Secretary under President George W. Bush; John E. Sununu, former Republican U.S. Senator from New Hampshire; and David Urban, former advisor to the 2020 Trump campaign and chief of staff to Republican U.S. Senator Arlen Specter.
